The most important point is to craft your answers in such a way that they can address multiple questions. Hyundai Motor Company continuously asks questions to understand your capabilities and personality. 2. What is a Personality Interview?

A personality interview mainly involves questions about your values, career outlook, and thoughts on Hyundai Motor Company. It follows a simple question-and-answer format.

3. What is an Experience-based Structured Interview? (Follow-up Questions)

Be truthful. When explaining yourexperiences, always base your answers on the truth. Exaggerated answers migh tlead to continuous probing questions to determine authenticity. When asked for youropinion, always provide evidence based on your experiences.

Example: "You mentioned having excellent communication skills. What do you think constitutes good communication skills?"

Answer:

4. How should I prepare for the project/major-related interview? (STEM)

Questions related to your major in the field you applied for will be asked. Especially for STEM fields, questions about the specialized knowledge used in the job will be asked, so it's important to prepare for questions related to the automotive industry.

For STEM candidates, prepare the following process for answering:

- Understand your role in the project.

• Emphasize exactly what part you contributed to, avoiding exaggeration (interviewers are experts in this field and will easily spot falsehoods).
• (Interviewers are well aware that students typically contribute less than 10% to projects.)

- Reflect on the difficulties encountered in the project and how you found solutions.

• Avoid answers like "I sought help from the professor" or "I solved it by referring to a book."
• Instead, discuss how you revisited your textbooks to analyze the root cause of the problem and conducted various experiments to optimize the solution.

- Prepare what you learned from the success and failure of the project.

• Exemplary answer: "Through the OO project, I was able to enhance my A skills. Currently, I understand that Hyundai Motor Company is either conducting project A or is aware of technological trends related to it. Based on our OO project experience, I am prepared to contribute in role B, while preparing for Hyundai Motor Company's present or future."

Experience Description from the Essay.

[From Studying Business ManagementPrinciples to Aspiring to Become a Specialist in the Latin American Market]

During my university years, driven bycuriosity about emerging markets, I made efforts to become a specialist in theLatin American market through exchange programs and embassy internships. It allstarted with curiosity. While majoring in business management as anundergraduate, I learned about the growth potential and opportunities inemerging markets. However, information about Latin America was scarce comparedto markets like China, which are closer and more stable. Therefore, I decidedto challenge myself in the Latin American market to gain firsthand experienceand insights. To understand the market's potential, I attended trade fairs.Traveling to Korea-Latin America trade fairs, I learned from experts andobserved the current market trends. Latin America is often described as amarket that requires thorough preparation. I believed Brazil to be the mostpromising market for growth. Thus, while preparing to study abroad in Brazil, Iimproved my language skills by taking all my classes in Portuguese during theexchange program. Upon returning from Brazil, while working as a businessinterpreter, I learned that language is just a tool for communication, and truebusiness communication involves respecting each other's cultures. Therefore, Ijoined an internship at the embassy, where I can meet experts from variousfields, to further develop my business communication skills and grow as amarket specialist.

What do you think are the growthprospects for Latin America?
The growth potential of the Latin Americanmarket, in my opinion, lies in population growth and technological cooperation.Unlike Korea, the population of the Latin American market is steadilyincreasing, which can be interpreted as an increase in customers who canpurchase essential goods such as Hyundai cars in the future. Additionally,there is potential for mutual growth between Korea and Brazil throughtechnological cooperation. Currently, Brazil does not possess its own carbrands or mobile phone brands. Moreover, most technological advancements,particularly in trends such as AI and fintech, are primarily achieved throughtechnological cooperation and foreign investment. I believe these marketcharacteristics are reasons why Korean companies should enter the Brazilianmarket.

What was the reason for choosing Brazil among otherLatin American countries?

There are two reasons why I chose Brazil.

First, I considered my career growth. Amongthe Latin American countries, except for Brazil, Spanish is spoken, and as faras I know, Portuguese can only be learned at two universities in Korea. As abusiness management student specializing in market research and marketing, Ibelieved that choosing Portuguese as my second language would be advantageousfor my career. I believe my choice was correct since I made it to the finalinterview with Hyundai Motor Company.

Second, it is Brazil's geographicalcharacteristics. While Mexico serves as a hub connecting the United States andLatin America, I see Brazil as a distribution hub for Latin America. Brazilshares borders with a total of seven countries, and through the Mercosuragreement, it has access to a free distribution network with these sevencountries. Therefore, I believed that by becoming an expert in the Brazilianmarket, I could grow into an expert in the distribution network of SouthAmerica. Hence, I felt more attracted to Brazil than other countries and choseit.

Even though you didn't major in Portuguese, did you not face anydifficulties when you went to Brazil?

The most challenging aspect was thelanguage barrier. Since I self-studied Portuguese through books, I facedconsiderable difficulties in everyday conversations with students from othermajors. For example, I once had to use a translation app at a supermarketbecause I couldn't understand the sentence, "Do you need a receipt or wantto collect mileage?" Therefore, I utilized my experience from studyingabroad in the United States. After class, I visited department stores and shopsevery day to converse with owners or clerks and make purchases. The reason forthis was that, as a customer, even if I made mistakes, they listened carefully,allowing me to learn Portuguese in daily life. Eventually, I became friendswith the clerks and could quickly learn the language by chatting with themafter school. (Similar questions were asked about studying abroad in the UnitedStates afterward.)

What did you learn after returning fromBrazil?

After studying abroad in Brazil, I learnedthe importance of practical experience. The Portuguese I learned fromuniversity textbooks and language guides was quite different from thePortuguese spoken in Brazil. Perhaps because university textbooks tend to coverinformation about Brazil and emerging markets broadly, there was a gap betweenwhat I learned and the reality in Brazil. Additionally, language guides mainlyfocused on writing or reading, similar to Korean language textbooks. Therefore,after studying abroad in Brazil, I made efforts to gain relevant experience byworking as a corporate interpreter and interning at the embassy to compensatefor my lack of experiential skills.

What kind of work did you do at theBrazilian Embassy?

I was in charge of the Culture andEducation Department. As the only Korean team member, I handled communicationregarding changes in Korean education policies, visas, scholarships, andcollaborations with educational institutions, while also planning and marketingevents focusing on aspects of Korean culture similar to or appealing toBrazilian cultural values. In the education sector, I mainly worked onproducing cultural adaptation and employment guidebooks for Brazilian studentsstudying at Korean universities, and in the events sector, I planned sevenevents over a period of two and a half years.

Were there any difficulties in yourwork?

The most challenging aspect of my work wasthe cultural differences between Korea and Brazil. In Korean companies andinstitutions, projects are usually planned one to two months in advance, but inBrazil, sometimes plans were not finalized until just two weeks before or evenon the day of the event. Therefore, I set deadlines for the team one to twoweeks ahead to avoid communication issues with Korean companies.

Hyundai Motor Company has entered theBrazilian market. As a student who studied in Brazil, do you think HyundaiMotor Company is doing well in the Brazilian market?

I believe Hyundai Motor Company excels inthe OO (vehicle name) segment. The most commonly encountered Korean car modelin Brazil is OO, mainly through services like Uber. Initially, I had neverheard of the OO Hyundai vehicle model, so I had to search and found that it wasa specially designed vehicle for Brazil. Considering the many unpaved roads andlong-distance driving in Brazil, I think the decision to raise the body of thevehicle and make the seats recline like a bed, unlike traditional vehicles, isfitting for Brazil. While these selling points were mainly conveyed throughreviews from actual users, I found it unfortunate that they were not emphasizedin local marketing efforts. Therefore, I aim to contribute to Hyundai MotorCompany's direction in designing and planning Brazil-friendly vehicles afterjoining the company.
